About the NDIS

What is it?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing individualised support for people with an impairment or condition that is likely to be permanent, or a developmental delay that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. The Scheme is being implemented by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

How does it work?
The NDIS takes a flexible, whole-of-life approach working with participants, their families and carers, to develop individualised plans. The NDIS provides participants with more choice and control over how, when and where their supports are provided. It also provides certainty that they will receive the support they need over their lifetime. The NDIS works to connect participants with community and mainstream supports. The NDIS also funds the additional reasonable and necessary supports to help participants pursue their goals and aspirations, and participate in daily life. Helping people to build their social and economic participation requires the NDIS to work closely with community organisations to identify opportunities for people with disability. Visit the NDIS website for more information.

Non-Face-to-Face Services |
---|
Non-face-to-face services are supports provided to clients outside of their direct therapy appointment. Examples of this at Youthrive include the clinician’s time preparing for your appointment such as reviewing documentation, identifying appropriate therapy activities to engage in to achieve you/your child’s goals, setting up and packing down the therapy space, reflection and documentation following the session. A maximum of 10 minutes non-face-to-face supports will be added to each service. Signing a service agreement to agree to non-face-to-face supports will pre-authorise these fees, however fees will only be charged when the activities are completed and as per the actual duration taken. The discipline specific schedule of supports completed by your clinician with you will provide further information including an individualised break down of all fees including non-face-to-face services based on your individualised needs. |
Travel |
Out of clinic sessions (i.e. home visits, school visits and centre visits) incorporate fees for both the time taken by the clinician to travel to/from the location, the session itself at the hourly rate of the clinician providing the service. Non-labour costs of $0.96 per kilometre also apply. Please speak with us for more information about off-site supports. |
