Biography

Emma is a certified Occupational Therapist and a practicing member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Occupational Therapy Australia.

“I am most passionate about enabling children to participate in all areas of life to the best of their ability. I believe that despite a diagnosis, a child should always be viewed as a child first, with the disability coming second.”

Experience

Since completing her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and an Introduction to Auslan training course, Emma has developed a keen interest in the disability sector, particularly working with children with intellectual impairments and children on the autism spectrum. She enjoys learning about sensory processing and ways to incorporate these strategies into daily life.

"Not only have I always wanted a career that would enable me to help others, I have always had a particular interest in working with children and their families. After attending the occupational therapy open day at JCU and working as a teach aide at ECDP I knew that becoming an occupational therapist was the right career path for me."
